COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released its week four players of the week awards this morning with Colorado Mesa's Olivia Barrett being honored as the conference's defensive player of the week.
Being the second Maverick to earn this award this season after Keely Wieczorek earned goalkeeper honors in week one, Barrett was recognized for her play this past week after helping CMU to a 2-0 start in conference play.
In those two games, Barrett helped the Mavs limit opponents to just five shots against them while helping her team offensively, scoring one goal and adding an assist as well.
Barrett recorded the game-winning goal in the Mavs' 2-0 victory over MSU Denver with her adding an assist to the lone goal in the 1-0 win over CCU.
This season Barrett has started and appeared in every game so far while totaling the fourth highest minutes on the team.
Joining Barrett as the other players of the week were Natalie Bunch from Regis University and Nylah Mirshafiei from UCCS.
Splitting their schedule this week, the Mavs first head to Durango this Friday to take on Fort Lewis College before returning home on Sunday to host Western Colorado for their senior day.
