SHERIDAN, Wyo.— Led by a pair of players in the top ten of the individual standings, the Colorado Mesa University women's golf team posted a team score of 304 (+16) on Monday and is second place of the team standings after the first of two rounds of the Travis Roy Memorial Invitational being played here at The Powder Horn Golf Club.
Twelve teams and 60 players are in the field for the 36-hole tournament, which will continue with Tuesday's second and final round, slated for a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
Senior
Payton Panzeri led the Mavs' strong effort on Monday, carding a 1-over par round of 73, which included four birdies. She is tied for sixth in the individual standings.
Fifth-year senior and CSU Pueblo
Anju Ogi is tied for ninth after posting a round of 75, the best of her three rounds of the young season and her Maverick career. Ogi made two birdies.
Hunter Gledhill is right behind in a tie for 12
th after recording a 76 (+4). The sophomore recorded two birdies.
Freshman
Hayden Hawley rounded out the Mavs' team score, posting an 80 (+8) in the opening round of the 6,045-yard, par 72 course.
Libby Bourassa was the Mavs' fifth player and recorded a round of 86 (+14). She is tied for 44
th.
CSU Pueblo had two players go under par and another post an even par round to open up a 15-shot advantage over the Mavs with a team score of 289 (+1). CMU is two shots ahead of Augustana, three in front of Texas A&M-International and six clear of Montana State Billings, which is in fifth place at 310 through 18 holes.
Augustana, which recorded a team score of 306 (+18) on Monday has the individual leader in Payton Drefke, who posted an impressive round of 68 (-4). She leads CSU Pueblo's Thale Victoria Estensen by two shots and is ahead of the ThunderWolves' Freye Constable by three shots.
