NORMAN, Okla. – 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars for NCAA Division II have been announced.
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
Colorado Mesa had three men's golf student-athletes qualify for the Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar award.
Graduate
Cole Beyer had an impressive season on the golf course, winning a CMU program record four tournaments, while smashing the school record with a 69.45 scoring average. He also set a CMU record by recording a 13-und par tournament score of 197 at the Ryan Palmer Invitational, breaking the former CMU standard for a 54-hole tournament score by five shots.
Earlier this summer, he was named a CSC Academic All-American and earned GCAA PING All-American honors. The Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar is the third award for Beyer in his career.
Rising junior
Baptiste Laborde competed in 30 of the Maverick's 33 rounds on the season. The Versailles, France native had a stroke average of 74.03 and finished in a tie for seventh at the RMAC Championships with a 7-under, 209 as his best tournament of the season. His low round of the season was a 68 which he shot in the first round of the RMAC Championships in Las Vegas.
Laborde claimed RMAC Academic Honor Roll accolades following the season.
Fellow rising junior
Luke Wagstaff competed in all 33 rounds for the Mavericks on the season. He finished the year with a 73.36 stroke average which was third best for the program. He shot a low round of 68 at the Bishop Invitational and The Stack Cougar-Burro Collegiate.
This is the first Cobalt Golf All-American Scholar for both Laborde and Wagstaff.
