SPARKS, Md.— Colorado Mesa University men's and women's lacrosse standouts
JJ Brummett and
Courtney Havel have both been named to the USA Lacrosse Magazine's list of 2025 NCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-America teams that were recently announced by the publication.
Brummett, a senior from Glen Rock, Pennsylvania also received the same recognition in 2024 and is now the just the second Maverick to ever be honored twice with USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America honors (
Dylan Checketts).
Havel, a junior from Lake Oswego, Oregon, received the honor for the first time and joins
Kelsey Viger (2023 & 2024) and current teammate
Justine Anderson (2024) with the plaudits.
The two attackers led their respective Maverick teams in goals, as both won conference titles.
Brummett led the Rocky Mountain Division of the Peach Belt Conference in points with 58 and co-led the division alongside teammate
Connor Jensen with 36 goals this season.
In the process, he helped lead the Maverick men to the Peach Belt Conference title and a spot in the NCAA Division II Tournament for just the second time in program history. The Mavericks also swept the Rocky Mountain Division regular season and tournament titles and finished the season with a 13-4 overall record.
Brummett was a 4-time All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection throughout his career and finished with 134 goals, the third most in program history, and 174 points, the fifth most in program history. He also was named to the RMAC All-Tournament team three times in his career and won a regular season and tournament title in all four years of his illustrious career.
Havel led the Maverick women with 46 goals this season and was named as the RMAC Attacker of the Year after leading the Mavericks to a 11-6 season and a share of the RMAC Regular Season crown. The Mavs also hosted the RMAC Tournament for the first time in program history and reached the title game for the fifth consecutive season.
She was also recently named to the IWLCA Second Team All-Midwest Region squad and had been picked to the First Team All-RMAC unit. Havel was also named as the IWLCA's NCAA Division II Co-Offensive Player of the Week after scoring six goals in CMU's first ever road win over Regis on Mar. 14 before adding five more two days later against UCCS on Mar. 16.
