BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team dropped two spots on the team leaderboard after the second round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament at Boulder Creek Golf Course on Monday (Apr. 21) afternoon.
The Mavericks shot 21-over, 309 in their second round and are currently at 30-over, 606 for their two round total which puts them in sixth place on the 10-team field. They are within striking distance of the top five and could potentially climb into the top three with a strong third round.
Colorado Christian has a two-stroke lead on CSU Pueblo for the overall team title. The Cougars sit at 587 against the ThunderWolves 589.
Freshman
Hunter Gledhill had a strong day on the course and vaulted into the top ten on the individual leaderboard. Gledhill shot an even-par, 72 in the round and is now in a tie for seventh 2-over, 146. The Herriman, Utah native had four birdies on the day along with two bogeys and a double.
Junior
Payton Panzeri put together another solid day and is in a tie for 10
th place on the leaderboard after shooting a 2-over, 74 on the day. Panzeri caught fire in her second nine with four birdies but still struggled on the par-3, 17 where she double bogeyed today.
Cassidy Phelan fired a 9-over, 81 and teammate
Brittlynn O'Dell shot a 10-over, 82 to round out the Maverick scorers.
Westminster's Ashley Lam continues to lead the field after shooting an even-par, 72 in round two. She leads the tournament by three strokes over second place Alyssa McMillen of CSU Pueblo.
The Mavericks will tee-off at 8:24am PDT tomorrow morning with their first group and 9am PDT in their final grouping.
