Brummett claims PBC/Rocky Mountain Division Player of the Week honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— After scoring eight goals in two games last week, Colorado Mesa University senior attack JJ Brummett has been named as the Peach Belt Conference Rocky Mountain Division Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks, as announced by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Monday afternoon.

Brummett, a senior from Glen Rock, Pennsylvania, score five goals in last Tuesday's game at Florida Tech and then added three goals and an assist in the Mavs' 21-14 win over No. 13 Saint Leo last Thursday.

He had also received the conference honor on Mar. 10.

Brummett now leads the Rocky Mountain Division in goals (21), assists (12) and total points (33) this season and has scored at least one goal in all seven games of 2025 and in 28 straight games dating back to late in 2023.  He also led the RMAC in goal scoring in 2024 with 54 and currently ranks fourth in program history with 119 career goals, just four shy of his older brother Jed for third place on the Mavs' all-time scoring charts.

The Mavericks are 5-2 and lead the division with their 2-0 record.  They are tied for 19th in the latest USILA NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, released earlier Monday, and will put their marks on the line in a massively important game against Concordia University Irvine this Friday.  That game will begin at 4 p.m. and will be the Mavs' home opener after CMU has played the first seven games away from home.

The Mavs defeated CUI 13-8 to open the season last month and also won a 13-12 overtime decision against the Golden Eagles in the RMAC Tournament Championship game last year.
