COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University's
Olivia Reed Thyne picked up her fourth defensive and fifth overall Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award of the season, conference officials announced on Monday afternoon.
Her latest honor came after she recorded a pair of double-doubles with 19 defensive and 26 total rebounds, five steals and a blocked shot as the Mavericks posted a pair of weekend wins at the Nighthawk Classic in Nampa, Idaho.
Reed Thyne had 14 points, ten rebounds and three steals in Friday night's 15-point (67-52) win over host Northwest Nazarene. She then scored a season-high 37 points, the sixth highest single-game total in program history, while recording 16 rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot in the Mavs' 86-55 win over Seattle Pacific on Saturday.
Reed Thyne has scored more than 20 points in five games this season and has seven double-doubles.
The Mavs, who have won ten straight games, also held the Nighthawks and Falcons to a combined .327 field goal percentage and rank second in the country for field goal percentage defense (.317) this season.
CMU, ranked 11
th in the latest WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches' Poll, is 13-1 this season.
The Mavs will resume the season and RMAC play hosting Regis on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 1 p.m. inside Brownson Arena in Grand Junction.
