COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University seniors
Sadie Scoville and
Allison Waller were both named as Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Players of the Week in their final opportunity as they led the Mavericks to a 2-0 road weekend in South Dakota.
Scoville was named as the conference's offensive player of the week for the second straight week and the third time this season as she recorded 28 kills, 22 digs, five service aces and 35 total points while hitting a combined .520. Waller was named as the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week for the fifth time in her career after registering 40 digs in the 3-0 sweeps of Black Hills State and South Dakota Mines.
Scoville, a 6-foot outside hitter from Pleasant Grove, Utah, had double-doubles in both matches, her 10
th and 11
th double-doubles of the season. She had 11 kills without a hitting error and recorded 10 digs, three blocks and two service aces in Friday's win over Black Hills State, which allowed the Mavericks to clinch a spot in this week's RMAC Tournament. She then had 17 kills, 12 digs, three aces and a block while hitting .500 in Saturday's win over South Dakota Mines.
Waller, a 5-foot-6 libero from Loveland, Colorado, tallied 19 digs in the win over Black Hills State before registering 21 in the win over South Dakota Mines. She averaged 6.67 per set, nearly three more than her season-long average of 4.04 per set. Waller also had 12 assists (2.00/set) over the weekend and helped the Mavs hold the Yellow Jackets and Hardrockers to a combined .126 attack percentage.
The Mavericks finished the regular season on a 4-match winning streak, their longest of the season, and are 16-9 overall. They went 10-4 in RMAC play and will be the No. 5 seed in this week's RMAC Tournament. CMU will play at No. 4 seed Colorado School of Mines (20-6, 10-4 RMAC) in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Golden.
