USAFA, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University junior
Ryan Campbell set a season-best score of 305.55 points over six dives to finish sixth on the 3-meter springboard while leading a contingent of Maverick divers on Thursday, the first day of the Air Force Diving Invitational here at the Falcons' Cadet Natatorium.
The Delmar, New York native and 2024 National Junior College Champion from Monroe (N.Y.) Community College in the event also tallied a strong score of 287.05 points in the preliminary round, qualifying eighth for the afternoon finals.
He was the only of the five Maverick men who competed in the 30-man field, made up of divers from six NCAA Division I programs and CMU, the lone Division II squad in the field, to reach the 12-man final.

Wyatt Hermanson was CMU's second finisher, taking 16
th in the preliminary round with 253.15 points.
Carter Lackner (205.35),
Jax Juarros (192.35) and
Aiden Coon (188.70) also competed, placing 26
th, 28
th and 30
th, respectively.
The Maverick women also competed on Thursday, contesting the 1-meter.
Kenya Meyer led the Mavericks with a 19
th place finish and a score of 222.50 points.

Tori Nguyen (178.30),
Mimi Licht (178.15) and
Juli Holt (168.70) also competed for CMU.
On Friday, the men will contest the 1-meter event while the women will move to the 3-meter board. Preliminary action will begin at 10:30 a.m.
3-person team events will also be held on Friday afternoon where each of the three divers on a team will perform two dives to determine the final standings. Those dives will commence from both springboards and the platform.
