Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University freshmen Catalina Ballon Marin and Taylor Nokes won the consolation portions of their "B" and "C" singles draws while another freshman in Kayla Huish reached the "C" main draw final to highlight the day for the Maverick women's tennis team on Day 2 of the Colorado College Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday here at Memorial Park.
 
Ballon defeated Kinsey Lockhart of MSU Denver in her lone match of the day in the "B" draw while Nokes went 2-0, claiming wins over Colorado College's Marina Seidl and MSU Denver's Laney Reddick, blanking the latter, 6-0, 6-0.
 
Huish also won her first match of the day over Meredith Waters of Colorado College in the main "C" draw by a 6-3, 6-1 score but dropped a tight bracket final to Hastings College's Victoria Harris, who also got by Audrey O'Rear in the semifinals.
 
Delia Maier also went 1-1 in the "A" singles consolations while Devyn Rodriguez's run was ended in the semifinal of the main draw.
 
Rodriguez and partner Jade Brilhante also won the "A" doubles back draw by default over teammates Maier and Makenna Livingston.
 
The Mavericks will begin the team portion of their season playing four matches in the Pueblo Duals on Friday and Saturday.
