GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University Beach Volleyball Coach
David Skaff has announced the addition of two late pick-ups to his squad's 2024-25 roster.
Lauren Rohlwing, an incoming freshman from Parker, Colorado and Elizabeth High School and
Phoenix Slager, a transfer from Division II institution Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina, are the two additions
who will join another group of freshman who had previously signed with the Mavericks. Slager is a native of Frankfort, Illinois and was a 2023 graduate of Lincoln-Way East High School. She will be a sophomore on the Mavericks' roster.

CMU has advanced to the NCAA Division II title match at each of the last two AVCA Small College Beach Championships, winning the title in 2022. Skaff is the only head coach of the Maverick program, which began in 2016.
Prep: 2024 graduate of Elizabeth High School… Was a 3-time (2020, 2022, 2023) first team all-conference pick for the Cardinals indoor squad… Earned second team honors as a sophomore… Set the school record for kills in a season (269) as a senior in 2023… Was the team' MVP that year… Chosen to play in the all-state game… Was the team's Impact Player of the Year as a junior in 2022.
Personal: Is majoring in nursing… Aspires to obtain a BSN and then work in an emergency hospital to ultimately become a flight for life nurse… Daughter of Steve & Heather Rohlwing… Has three older siblings— Sydney, Spencer and Luke… Enjoys hiking and skiing.
Why I Chose CMU: "I love the location and how there's so much to do outdoors. It is also super affordable and has a great nursing program!"
Skaff on Rohlwing: "Lauren is an explosive athlete who is new to beach that we are excited to start training. She has a great attacking and ball control background."
Phoenix Slager (6-0, Frankfort, Ill./Erskine College/Lincoln-Way East HS)
Club: Progression Beach Volleyball
As a Freshman (2024 @ Erskine): Led the Flyers in pair wins during her freshman season… The Flyers won a program-record 19 duals (19-19)… Went 2-0 with partner Caroline Kelly at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships while having four other No. 5 matches go unfinished.
Prep: 2023 graduate of Lincoln-Way East High School.
Club: Played for Progression Beach Volleyball.
Personal: Is majoring in exercise science… Plans to go attend physician assistant school after completing her exercise science degree and then pursue a career in orthopedics… Daughter of Nicholas and Meggan Slager… Has an older sibling— Carson… Besides playing volleyball, enjoys working out, spending time with family, yoga and going to the beach.
