AUSTIN, Texas— Colorado Mesa University women's track & field standouts
Josie Coffey and
Jordan Burnett were once again named to the College Sports Communicators NCAA Division II All-America
® teams, which were released on Tuesday morning after a vote of CSC members.
Coffey, a senior high jumper out of Lakewood, Colorado, was a first team selection for the second straight year and now has three total accolades after picking up second team honors as a sophomore in 2021-22, her first year of eligibility for the honor. Burnett, a junior sprinter from Fairplay, Colorado, was a third team honoree this year after picking up second team accolades a year ago.
Coffey, a political science major with a perfect 4.0 GPA, is now the first Maverick women's track & field athlete to ever become a 3-time Academic All-American, the latest on a comprehensive list of awards. She earned her fourth and fifth all-America honors in the high jump at this past winter and spring's NCAA Division II Indoor & Outdoor Championships. She also won the event at both Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship meets and now has five career conference titles to her credit.
The school-record holder in both the indoor and outdoor disciplines, Coffey was also named as the USTFCCCA's NCAA Division II South Central Regional Field Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season and has been the region's top performer four times while earning a spot on the USTFCCCA All-Region teams for all eight combined indoor and outdoor seasons throughout her Maverick career.
In May, Coffey was named as the Elite 90 Winner for having the highest GPA of any student-athlete competing at the NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She has also been named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team for the past six combined seasons and will be selected to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for the fourth straight year when those honors are announced later this summer.
Burnett holds a 3.94 GPA and is majoring in exercise science. She earned two all-America honors during the 2022-23 indoor season and was named as the RMAC's Freshman of the Year for that season. She went on to earn four more All-RMAC honors in 2024 to raise her career total to seven and set school records in the 400 meters (55.39) and 4x100-meter relay (45.71) during the 2024 outdoor season adding on to her indoor 400-meter school record of 55.45 seconds, set in 2023.
Burnett will also be named to the USTFCCA All-Academic Team for the third straight year this summer and has been a 3-time first team pick to the RMAC All-Academic teams.
