INDIANAPOLIS— Ben Sampson set a new personal-best time of two minutes, 2.26 seconds in the 200-meter individual medley as he and fellow Colorado Mesa University swimming teammate
Andrew Scoggin competed in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials this week here at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Sampson broke his former best and qualifying time of 2:02.46 by two tenths of a seconds in Thursday's morning heats taking 38
th place in a field of 90 in what was his final swim as a Maverick before departing for the University of Texas, where he will use his fifth year of collegiate eligibility.
Both Sampson and Scoggin had also competed in the 100-meter backstroke on Sunday.
Sampson finished 49
th in 55.74 seconds while Scoggin finished 65
th in 56.14 seconds after turning in a personal-best first 50-meter split of 26.65 seconds in his heat.
Scoggin, a native of Greeley, Colorado, will return for his senior season at CMU in 2024-25 as a team captain.
