Remec resigns to accept position in Chicago

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa University head women's soccer coach Megan Remec has announced her resignation this morning (Apr. 5) to accept a position to be the girls club director at Chicago FC United.

"We want to thank Megan for her hard work and effort in elevating the program from a .500 team to a conference, regional, and national contender," said CMU Director of Athletics Joan McDermott. "We wish Megan, and her growing family, all the best in the future."

Remec's teams compiled a 47-20-3 overall record and a 29-11-1 mark in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matches during her four seasons in charge of the program. She helped the team win a share of the RMAC regular season title in 2021 and the RMAC Tournament Championship this past fall. In each of the last three seasons, she led the team to double-digit victories which were the program's first since the 2011 season. She was named the RMAC Coach of the Year following the 2021 season.

"Stepping away from such a special team and university has been a difficult decision. There is no perfect time, but this felt like the right moment to move closer to family," Remec said. "Our family's experience at Colorado Mesa has made us Maverick fans for life, and I will be cheering on this incredible team next season."

The 2023 season was one for the record books as the Mavericks advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen and hosted that round of the tournament, a first for the program. Remec led the team to a program record 18 wins and the first win in the NCAA Tournament since 1998 when they defeated both Texas Woman's and Colorado School of Mines in November.

A national search for Remec's replacement will begin immediately.
