CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The No. 5 Colorado Mesa women's wrestling team wrapped competition at this season's National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championship (NCWWC) on Sunday (Mar. 9) afternoon.
 
The Mavericks would wind up right where their national ranking told them they were in fifth place as a team. They accumulated 68.5 points among their ten wrestlers and finished ahead of Division I Sacred Heart by seven and a half points and nine and a half points ahead of Lock Haven.
 
Dalia Garibay paced the Mavericks as the highest place winner as she took fourth place at 155 pounds. The Brentwood, Calif. native defeated Alex Hofrichter of Dubuque 8-6 in her first match of the day followed by a first period pin of Iowa's Bella Mir to advance to the third-place match.
 
Garibay would fall to North Central's London Houston by pin in the first period to claim fourth. Her lone two losses in the tournament came at the hands of Houston and finishes her season with a 16-5 overall record and 62-16 in her career.
 
101-pounder 
Jennesis Martinez opened the day by defeating Alex Kibelbek of King by a 9-0 margin before falling to North Central's Madison Avila 5-0 to drop into the fifth-place match. There she had a narrow defeat at the hands of Schreiner's Odelia Lopez 2-1 to settle for sixth place at the weight.
 
Isabella Morales placed seventh at 109 pounds matching her finish in last season's NCWWC. Morales fell in her first match of the day before receiving an injury default victory in the seventh-place match.
 
Junior 
Jayleen Sekona finished seventh at 191 pounds after falling in her first match of the day. She bounced back with a win in the seventh-place match 10-0 over Jade Arnold of Mount Olive.
 
Holly Beaudoin (136) and 
Erica Schroeder (143) each placed eighth in their respective weight classes after falling in both of their matches on the day.
