COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Ten Colorado Mesa University women's indoor track and field athletes combined for 13 All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors, which were officially released on Thursday in conjunction with the conference's major award winners.
The Maverick women had two individual champions and claimed five medals as the RMAC Indoor Championships, which were contested on Feb. 23-24 at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota. Those medalists, who all earned top three finishes in their respective events, were given first team all-conference honors. The Mavericks, who finished third as a team and in the top-3 for the fourth straight year, also received eight second team honors, which went to the fourth through sixth place finishers in each individual event.

Katie Thomson led the Maverick contingent and were joined by
Jordan Brockman,
Jordan Burnett,
Hope Matteson as First Team All-RMAC performers.
Coffey has now won four RMAC high jumping titles in her career and is now a 6-time All-RMAC performer. Thomson claimed her first RMAC title and now has three all-conference certificates in her career account.
Burnett now has five career honors, four of the first team variety, after taking third in the 400 meters. She also placed sixth in the 200 to claim second team honors.
Brockman also picked up a bronze medal and First Team All-RMAC certificate in the pentathlon and placed sixth in the long jump to earn a second team honor in that event. She now has ten career all-conference honors to her credit, including three of the first team variety.
Matteson took second behind Coffey in the high jump to earn her initial first team honor and second overall all-conference certificate.
Gaby Horton joined Burnett and Brockman as a 2-event honoree, earning second team honors in both the 60 and 200 meters to claim her first two career honors.
Meanwhile,
Kirstin Williams (5,000 meters),
Venesa Handzhiyska (long jump),
Kylee Kielian (triple jump) and
Augustine Hancock (weight throw) also earned second team honors as first-time all-conference performers in track and field. Williams had also earned a First Team All-RMAC honor in cross country last fall.
The Maverick men had 12 athletes earn 18 All-RMAC honors, including eight first team honorees.
