LUBBOCK, Texas — Add yet another award to Olivia Reed's stellar sophomore season.
The Colorado Mesa forward was selected to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-South Central Region women's basketball team on Thursday.
Reed, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Academic Player of the year, made the D2CCA five-player first team, one of three players from the RMAC on the elite list.
Sports information directors from the South Central Region schools and conferences select the all-region teams. Players on their respective all-region team are eligible for All-America honors, which will be announced later this month.
Reed led the RMAC in field goal percentage (.573), was second in rebound average (11.2), fifth in scoring (16.9) and was first in total offensive rebounds (132). She had 11 double-doubles this season and four times scored 30 points in a game, her career high. She also had a career-high 24 rebounds against Western Colorado and was twice named national player of the year by the Division I Conference Information Directors Association.
Joining Reed on the first team from the RMAC are junior forward Alisha Little of CSU Pueblo and graduate student guard Ashley Steffeck of Colorado School of Mines.
Raiana Brown, a senior forward from Texas A&M International, and Ashley Ingram, a junior forward from Texas Woman's also made the first team, with Ingram voted the region's Most Outstanding Player.
Reed and the Mavericks tip off in their quarterfinal game of the South Central Region tournament at 1:30 p.m. on Friday against Lubbock Christian.
