COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Isaiah Cheeks and
Jax Juarros both reached the men's 3-meter final placing sixth and 11
th, respectively to lead the Colorado Mesa University diving squad on Thursday, the first day of the Air Force Invitational here at the Cadet Natatorium.
Cheeks scored 306.60 points on six dives in the finals after qualifying third with 315.15 points in the morning preliminary round. Juarros scored 292.45 points in the morning and 282.40 in the finals.
Teammates
David Roethlisberger and
Dawson Wilson also competed in the event, placing 24
th and 26
th, respectively. Roethlisberger scored 234.40 points while Wilson tallied 225.70.
Concurrently, the Mavericks had five representatives in the women's 1-meter competition, which featured 39 divers.
Jenna Hurley led the group, placing 22
nd with a score of 203.10 points.
Kenya Meyer (194.95) and
Talia Datilio (194.45) also finished in the top 30, placing 27
th and 28
th.
Mimi Licht took 35
th with a score of 175.50 points while
Juli Holt finished 28
th with 163.80 points.
The remainder of the fields was made up of divers from nine NCAA Division I programs.
The Mavs will continue the meet on Friday, contesting the men's 1-meter and women's 3-meter. The preliminary rounds will begin at 10:30 a.m.
