GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The No. 12 Colorado Mesa wrestling teamed opened Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual schedule with a dominant 47-7 win over the New Mexico Highlands Cowboys on Friday (Nov. 15) evening in Brownson Arena.
The Mavericks eight bouts that included a pair of forfeit wins at 197 and 285 pounds on their way to their first conference dual win of the season. They were able to secure six bonus point wins including five by pin on 'Prizes for Pins' night in Brownson Arena.

Jason Bynarowicz (184) all recorded wins by pin. Castaneda earned the quickest pin of the evening as he recorded his in a time of 1:54.
Oran Huff had the technical fall of the group as he earned a 15-0 win in 3:28 at 133-pounds. Huff picked up a takedown and a pair of four-point near-falls in the first period then chose the top position to start the second period. Just 28 seconds later, he finished the bout with his third four-point near-fall.
The Cowboys picked up a pair of wins on the evening with wins at 141-pounds by Mar-trece Smith and at 165-pounds by Ivan Smith Jr.
Eddie Nelson (197) and
Tyler Doyle (285) accepted wins by forfeit in the final two matchups of the evening.
The Mavericks will return to action next Saturday at the Younes Hospitality Open in Kearney, Neb. They will take most of the team to that tournament with two divisions, one for younger competitors and one for experienced collegiate wrestlers.
