COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Mesa visited Colorado College for a two game road trip in Colorado Springs.
In game one the Mavericks put up nine goals. Freshman Tristan Brooks would get the scoring started with his eleventh of the season and scored in his eighth consecutive game to start the season. Senior Shjon Kern would score his first of the season on his back after a great individual effort. Senior Ethan Gotchey scored his second of the year off of a great feed from sophomore Ethan Levesque. Senior Bryson Sutterby found the back of the net twice, but leading the way was senior Eli Wilson who scored four goals in the game. Senior goaltender Chris McElroy kept the Tigers from finding the back of the net with some astonishing saves to collect his first shutout of the season giving the Mavs a 9-0 win.
The Mavs would find the back of the net nine times yet again in game two. Wilson would score two more for his final tally of six on the weekend, Sutterby, Shjon Kern, and Brook found the back of the net again. Junior Mason Ripley padded away his fourth of the season, Junior Evan Wagner scored his second of the season. Freshman Noah Dalton scored his first career goal by making a great move past the Tiger defenseman and scoring, but he wasn't done there, adding another goal by finding a loose puck in front. Freshman goaltender John Hickam added his second win in as many starts, backstopping the Mavs to a 9-1 victory.
The Mavs swept the Tigers outscoring them 18-1 on the weekend. The Mavs will head back to Springs next weekend as they take on a challenging opponent, Air Force.
