Grand Junction, Colo. - Colorado Mesa hosted Colorado School of Mines for a pair of games over homecoming weekend. 

The Mavericks would play their final two home games of the semester by hosting a challenging Mines team. After a slow first period Mines would score the game's first goal on a neutral zone turn over in the second period. Freshman Connor Hassenstab would quickly tie the game by finding the puck in a scrum near the net for his third of the season. Mines would score a shorthanded goal on a break away to take a 2-1 lead. The Mavs would tie the game before the intermission when an airmail pass by Senior Bryson Sutterby gave Freshman Tristen Brooks a break away to score his 7th of the season. 

Bryson Sutterby would start the scoring in the third for the Mavs making it 3-2, but Mines would quickly respond tying the game. Sutterby then scored his second of the game to take the lead and the Mavs wouldn't look back after that. Senior Ethan Gotchey added to the lead with his first goal of the season and Brooks would finish the night with two more goals to complete the hattrick. Senior Goaltender Chris Mcelroy backstopped the Mavs for their first Victory over Mines since 2018 for a final score of 7-3. 

In game 2 the first was once again scoreless. Mines would score the game's first goal again and add to their lead in the second off of a broken faceoff play to go up 2-0. In the third Brooks would find the net for the 10th time this season to pull the Mavericks within one being set up by Sutterby who gained his 100th career point on the goal. The Mavs would give up another shorthanded goal late in the third to end the game losing 3-1. 

The Mavs split the weekend with Colorado School of Mines and will play Colorado College in Colorado Springs next weekend.
