GOLDEN, CO. - Colorado Mesa Hockey took a trip to Golden to take on #16 in the nation, Colorado School of Mines in a two game series.
Â
The Mavericks would be facing one of their tougher opponents, the Orediggers led the season series 2-0, in two commanding wins earlier in the year. Game 1 of this away series saw Mines dominate the Mavericks putting up 9 straight unanswered, with
Eli Wilson tucking one in the final minute of the third to make the final score 9-1, Orediggers.
Â
Game 2 saw the Orediggers take an early 1 goal lead, but junior
Kevin Miller would net a goal from
Ethan Levesque and
Jared Riley to tie it up. Later in the period
Eli Wilson grabbed his second of the weekend and gave the Mavericks a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.
Â
However, with the lead the Mavericks couldn't hold the pace and gave up 2 goals in the second without being able to answer any of Mines pushes. The third period was similar with the Orediggers netting another 2 goals, beating the Mavericks after scoring 4 straight goals.
Â
That would round up the season series against Colorado School of Mines which saw CMU drop all 4 games.
