GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa women's lacrosse defender
Kelsey Viger added another impressive achievement to her career resume after she was named an honorable mention All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine.
Viger is the first Maverick in program history to earn recognition from USA Lacrosse. The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has awarded two previous All-American honors to CMU players, a first-team honor to Olivia Hayden and a second-team honor to Erin Koehler in 2019. The 2023 IWLCA All-Americans will be announced on May 18.
Viger has been the most decorated Maverick during this year's awards season, taking home the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year award and joining teammate
Kiley Davis on the IWLCA All-Midwest Region First Team. The redshirt junior from Savage, Minnesota led the RMAC and ranked fourth in Division II with 54 caused turnovers and ranked third in the nation with 3.18 per game.
Viger earned her second career First Team All-Conference selection aside from taking down the DPOY award and ranked third on the team with 37 ground balls. She also scored her second career goal in a 19-1 win over CSU Pueblo on April 16.
