CMU headed to Logan, Utah for a neutral site season finally matchup with a strong DI opponent, Montana State University. With a win CMU would clinch their National Title run. With a loss, their post season fate is now in the hands of Colorado and Utah State University. MSU came out strong and scored first and scored early. The Mavs were taken aback as for the first time this season, they saw themselves behind 12-0 merely 10 minutes into the matchup.
Zelly Moore would rally the team with the Mavs first score and a big run up the outside to slow things down a bit 13 minutes in. MSU turned on the burners and scored twice more before CMU could answer again. With a burst of energy and smart plays - CMU scored two trys within 90 seconds of each other. With freshmen
Ashley Bollinger scoring her second try of the season and veteran Ellen Rickerd placing a nice kick up and over and outrunning the competition to tack on another. With a
Courtney Hull conversion, CMU was able to close the gap at halftime 26-17 and put CMU back in the matchup.

Unfortunately the Mavs came out slow again out of the half. It took MSU only 2 minutes to touchdown out of the break and they rallied. The first 20 minutes of the second half was completely dominated by MSU as they found gaps, took advantage of missed tackles, and capitalized on questionable kicks by CMU. Additionally, the CMU squad suffered some injuries and as the finishers entered the game, the score had grown to 47-17 before
Zelly Moore again broke through with a nice team try and speed on the outside. Nallely Robles tacked on a conversion, and that was the end of the day for scoring for CMU.
Â
The ladies watched this match and potentially the season, quite literally, run away on them. As it stands, the Mavs Fall regular season has concluded. In an unfortunate turn of events, they now need to sit and wait for the next two weekends to see how the Air Force Academy (3-1) and Montana State (4-1) fair. If both of those teams win out, the Mavs will see themselves on a losing end of a three-way tiebreaker with the top teams all sitting at 5-1.Â
