ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team opened their final tournament of the fall on Monday (Oct. 16) as the played the first round of the Nick Turner Invitational at Arroyo del Oso Golf Course.
The tournament features ten teams from across the region with Colorado Mesa checking in at eighth place after the first round as they shot a team score of 314. They are less than ten strokes from a spot in the top four with Western New Mexico currently occupying the fourth slot at 16-over, 304.
Cal State San Marcos and Cal State East Bay are in a tie for the team lead at 7-over, 295.
Cassidy Phelan and
Brittlynn O'Dell paced the Mavericks with matching 5-over, 77s on their scorecards. Phelan had three bogeys and a double bogey while O'Dell had five bogeys in her round with both being tied for 20
th on the individual leaderboard.
Jasmin Krishna of Cal State East Bay leads the individual leaderboard with a 2-under, 70.
The Mavericks will begin the second and final round tomorrow morning at 8:30am as they are scheduled to tee-off on hole No. 9.
