Box Score SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball team's three-game winning streak came to a halt on Friday (Jan. 13) evening at the Young Center as the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets came away with a 59-45 win in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
The Mavericks fell behind by seven early and could never recover. They trailed by six after the end of the first quarter and fell behind 26-19 at halftime. The Yellow Jackets best quarter was the third where they outscored the Mavericks 20-12.
Colorado Mesa shot just 31.6 percent from the field and made just three three-point baskets while the Yellow Jackets shot a little over 40 percent and made five threes on the evening. Black Hills State finished with six blocks while each team turned the ball over 10 times.
Olivia Reed tied for the game-high with 11 points and ended up with four rebounds. She was 5-for-10 from the field and added an assist.
Jamisyn Heaton finished with eight points and nine rebounds.
The Mavericks will look to earn the weekend road split tomorrow afternoon as they will play at South Dakota Mines in Rapid City at 4pm.
