For the second game in a row, CMU Hockey found themselves trailing 2-0 to NAU in the first period.
The Mavs found their legs in the 2
nd Period tying the game with goals from
Eli Wilson and
Mason Ripley.
The Mavs dominated the 3
rd Period outshooting NAU 19 to 6 but could not find the back of the net.
In the 5-minute sudden death 3-on-3 Overtime, the Mavs again outshot their opponent 12 to 4, while also hitting 4 goal posts.
With 14 seconds left in Overtime, however, defenseman
Joey Voyles became the hero scoring a beautiful top corner goal to win the game for CMU, the second in as many nights.
Collin Fitzgerald assisted on all 3 goals.
The Mavs take to the ice this weekend for a triple-header home opening weekend against Montana State.
