CMU Hockey fought off some early first period jitters to win their season opener on the road at NAU by a score of 7-4.
The Mavs fell down 2-0 early in the first period before taking advantage of an undisciplined NAU team. The Mavs scored back-to-back power play goals to even the score end the end of the first period.
The Mavs took over the game during the 2
nd and 3
rd periods outplaying and outshooting their opponent to finish the game with a 7-4 win.
Freshmen
Mason Ripley had 2 goals in his collegiate debut.Â
Larry Simons also potted a pair of goals. Other goal scorers were

Ben Pedigo, and
Colton Wurzer-Seepers. Freshman Defenseman
Seth Kern added 2 assists. Â
The Mavs take the Ice again tonight against NAU at 8pm, looking to keep their momentum going into game 2.
