Colorado Springs, CO - The Lady Mavs started the season off right with a win on the road against their longtime opponent Colorado College. The team was led by strong performances from the core group of vets. Co-Captains
Emily Canvasser and Nallely Robles set the tone with big hits to win the ball on defense and a calm, cool, and collected front on offense.
Ryleigh Blatnik controlled the speed and tempo of the offense with big runs and quality offloads. Blatnik was the first Mav to touchdown for a try in a come from behind rally. Once the door was opened, the rookies ran hard, scoring the next 4 team tries. With the forwards working hard to maintain possession, the backs were able to find the space and punch it through for points.
Trys by Blatnik, (2) Barber, Chavez, Rickerd and three conversions for Blatnik.
Final score CMU 31 - CC 15. You can catch the Mavs in action this Sunday as they take on New Mexico State University at 11am at the CMU Rugby Pitch.
