The Mavericks Look to Conclude RMAC Regular Season Against UCCS and #3 Regis

Grand Junction, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's lacrosse team will conclude RMAC regular season at home on Community Hospital Unity Field to take on UCCS Thursday, Apr. 28 at 5:00 p.m. and #3 Regis Saturday, Apr. 30 at 1:00 p.m.
 
A Look Back for the Mavericks
The Mavericks defeated Westminster College 20-1 (Apr. 20) and CSU Pueblo 18-4 (Apr. 24) in last week's matchups to extend their record to 11-4 overall and 9-1 in RMAC. Sitting in second in the RMAC standings, the Mavericks have won the past seven games with hopes to continue the streak for the final two games before entering the RMAC Tournament.
 
Kiley Davis who has played and started in all 14 games, has 37 goals and 13 assists for a total of 50 points to lead the team. Davis added eight goals to her name along with three assists over the past two games – four goals apiece against Westminster (Apr. 20) and CSU Pueblo (Apr. 24).
 
Davis currently has the second most goals in the RMAC for the 2022 season.
 
Another big player for the Mavericks is Taylor Jakeman who has a total of 46 points with 31 goals and 15 assists. Jakeman has taken 68 shots with 49 coming on goal with a .721 shot on goal percentage on the season so far.
 
Melanie Evans continues to be a threat as she is second in the RMAC with assists with 25. Evans is sitting behind UCCS midfielder Natalie Church who has 28.
 
Previous matchup for the Mavericks versus the Mountain Lions was Apr. 3 where the Mavericks battled in a 19-15 win in Colorado Springs. A close matchup throughout the whole game, the Mavericks just pulled away as they outscored UCCS 8-5 in the fourth quarter to take the win. Jakeman had a career best seven goals.
 
The Mavericks have won all five games versus the Mountain Lions in Mesa history that began in 2017.
 
Against Regis, the Mavericks have yet to defeat the Rangers and are looking to change that on Saturday. Previously playing in the 2022 season (Apr. 1), the Mavericks were just shy as they lost 10-17 in Denver.
 
Four different Mavericks scored two goals apiece but wasn't enough as they were outscored in three of the four periods. The last time the Mavericks played in Grand Junction against the Rangers was back in April of 2021 and is looking to take advantage of being on their own home field.
 
Mountain Lions Heading into Thursday
The Mountain Lions (10-5 overall, 7-3 RMAC) currently sit third in the RMAC standings. Recently, UCCS had an automatic win due to a forfeit from Adams State (Apr. 22) and defeated Fort Lewis 15-9 (Apr.25).
 
Natalie Church is coming off a five-goal game who led the team in the win against Fort Lewis, followed by Hannah Mill and Holly Sodomka who got three goals each.
 
Church and Julia Patrick have 28 goals each on the season with Church also totaling 28 assists. Mill follows just behind as she has 26 goals and 15 assists who just received three goals and two assists in the most recent game against Fort Lewis (Apr. 25).
 
UCCS have won the last two consecutive on-field games and the only RMAC losses have come from the Mavericks and the Rangers.
 
Rangers Heading into Saturday
The Rangers (15-0 overall, 10-0 RMAC) sit first in the RMAC standings and are ranked third in the country. Recently, the Rangers defeated Fort Lewis 16-2 (Apr. 22) a had a win off a forfeit by Adams State (Apr. 24).
 
Kyleigh Peoples leads the team and RMAC in goals with 40 while accounting for 18 assists. Peoples is coming off a three-goal game and two assists in the most recent matchup against Fort Lewis (Apr. 22).
 
Following just ten goals behind and has recorded 15 assists is midfielder Hannah Krats – sits second in goals and third in assists for the Rangers. Five other Rangers sit in the double digits for goals and leading the team in assists is Gabby Rothermund who has 24 on the season.
 
The Rangers have 214 goals on the season while keeping their opponents to 75.
 
Goalkeepers Elizabeth Myotte and Brigit Goetsch combine for a total of 67 saves with Goetsch leading in wins with eight.
