The Mavericks Head on the Road for Final Away Regular Season Conference Game

Grand Junction, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's lacrosse team is heading on the road to take on CSU-Pueblo for their last away regular season conference game Sunday, Apr. 24 at 2:00 p.m. on Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
 
A Look Back on the Mavericks
The Mavericks are on a seven-game conference winning streak with one game including a forfeit from Adams State. The Mavericks are sitting second in the 2022 RMAC standings with a 10-4 overall record and 8-1 conference record.
 
The most recent win for the Mavericks was against Westminster at home with a victorious 20-1 win (Apr. 20). Kiley Davis and Taylor Jakeman are coming off four goals a piece with Melanie Evans having six assists.
 
More threats for the Mavericks is third leading scorer Regan Wentz who has 21 goals on the season, followed by Ashton Whittle with 15 and Ali Bryant with 14. The last goals from Wentz came against CSU-Pueblo (Apr. 8) finding the back of the net twice for a 21-1 win over the Thunderwolves.
 
Last meet up against the Thunderwolves, 15 different Mavericks scored and Ashton Whittle led the team with three goals. The Mavericks kept the Thunderwolves scoreless until the fourth period with 13:22 remaining as Ashley Hendricks found the back of the net unassisted.
 
A new largest margin of victory was created in the latest Mavericks versus Thunderwolves matchup (Apr. 8) with a 21-1 win and are now on a 12-game winning streak starting back in 2015. The Thunderwolves have zero wins against the Mavericks in history.
 
Thunderwolves Heading into Sunday
The Thunderwolves defeated Westminster College 19-15 (Apr. 22) where Emily Eller broke a career goal record with five goals and had one assist. Followed by Eller was Ashley Hendricks with four goals and Baylee Mee and Sedona Sargent each accounting for three goals apiece.
 
The Thunderwolves had a game high of 17 clears against Westminster (Apr. 22).
 
The Thunderwolves sit sixth in the RMAC standings with an overall record of 3-11 and a 3-7 conference record.
 
Hendricks leads the team with 29 goals and Ciara Lessick just behind her with 22 goals and is also second on the team in assists with 8. Mee is another power player as she leads in the team in assist with 14 and has 12 goals to her name. Two other Thunderwolves are in double digits in goals – Eller with 18 and Sargent with 13.
 
The Thunderwolves have 123 goals on the season but their opponents have hit 219 in the net. The Thunderwolves hit 202 shots on goal to have a .756 shot on goal percentage.
 
Up Next for the Mavericks
The Mavericks will conclude the regular season with two home games on Community Hospital Unity Field to take on UCCS Thursday, Apr. 28 at 5:00 p.m. and #4 Regis Saturday, Apr. 30 at 1:00 p.m. to celebrate senior day.
