Boise, Idaho. – The Colorado Mesa beach volleyball concluded their time at the Boise State Beach Classic battling with the host team, taking the Broncos to three sets on three of the courts. Unable to close in, they fell in the finale, 4-1.
The Mavericks (11-9) single point came from the fours pair of
Sierra Hunt and
Ara Norwood who made quick work of Kaylee Mejia and Sharli O'Neil in straight sets.
Forcing deciding sets were the pairs at No. 2, 3 and 5.
Holly Schmidt and
Macie Lachemann forced a deuce decision in set one on the twos court, taking the second pretty convincingly.
Jessa Megenhardt and
Jada Hall held off their opponents in the second, taking it 21-19 to extend the game.
Sabrina VanDeList and
Tye Wedhorn in a similar situation at the fives.
Hailey Peters and
Savannah Ott played in the exhibition sets, taking their respective matchup in straight sets.
The Mavericks will take the next couple weeks to prepare for the upcoming AVCA Small College Beach Championships, April 14-16 in Tavares, Florida on Hickory Point Beach.
