Grand Junction, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's lacrosse team will be at home Wednesday, Apr. 20 to take on Westminster college at 5:00 p.m. on Community Hospital Unity Field in an RMAC matchup.
A Look Back on Last Week
The Mavericks are sitting second in the RMAC standings with an overall record of 9-4 and a 7-1 conference record. The Mavericks played games in back-to-back days against Fort Lewis in a conference matchup winning 17-10 (Apr. 14) and defeating Colorado College in an exhibition game 12-5 (Apr. 15).
Receiving this week's RMAC Offensive Player of the Week,
Melanie Evans leads the team in assists with 15 and has 11 goals on the season. Against Fort Lewis (Apr. 14) Evans hit four goals and four assists – the Mavericks have a total of 80 assists and 168 goals.
Kiley Davis and
Taylor Jakeman lead the team with 57 shots apiece. Davis has found the back of the net 29 times and Jakeman follows with 26 goals. Versus Fort Lewis (Apr. 14) Davis added two goals to her name with Jakeman contributing four goals and one assists. Jakeman is coming off a six-goal game in the latest exhibition matchup against the Tigers (Apr. 15) – goals do not account for season stats.
Griffins Heading into Wednesday
The Griffins (4-7 overall, 4-4 RMAC) are fourth in the RMAC standings after two wins from last week. The Griffins won by forfeit against Adams State and just defeated Fort Lewis in a thrilling 19-18 win (Apr. 16).
Lauren Shoughro is coming off a nine-goal game against Fort Lewis to be the second leading scorer for the Griffins with 24 goals. Just one goal ahead of Shoughro to lead the Griffins is Eden Freiberg with 25 goals and 11 assists.
In the net to play all 60:00 minutes against Fort Lewis (Apr. 16) is Hannah Bargeron. Allowing 18 goals, Bargeron made 12 saves to help the Griffins pull away for the win.
The Griffins has 179 shots on goal with 105 falling in the net to have a .732 shot on goal percentage.
