Grand Junction, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's lacrosse team will head to Durango to take on Fort Lewis College for the second time this season at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, Apr. 14 at Ray Dennison Memorial Field. The Mavericks will immediately travel to Colorado Springs Friday, Apr. 15 at 1:00 p.m. for an exhibition game against Colorado College at Washburn Field.
A Look Back on Last Week
The Mavericks (7-4 overall, 5-1 RMAC) are sitting second in the RMAC standings, behind Regis who their one conference loss came from. The Mavericks are second in the RMAC with goals (151) and assists (74) – Regis leads the conference with 159 and UCCS leading the conference in assists with 82.
The Mavericks won both RMAC matchups last week, defeating Westminster 17-3 (Apr. 6) and CSU-Pueblo 21-1 (Apr. 8)
Kiley Davis continues to lead the Mavericks with 27 goals and
Melanie Evans leads the team in assists with 11.
Taylor Jakeman continues to be a strong asset with 22 goals and ten assists for the season.
The Mavericks will be looking to continue to extend their three-game winning streak.
History Against Fort Lewis Skyhawks
The Mavericks and Skyhawks previously met in the 2022 season back on March 6 with the Mavericks taking the win 15-4.
Regan Wentz found the back of the net four times with
Ashton Whittle and Jakeman both getting three goals apiece.
From 2011 to 2015, the Mavericks and Skyhawks met up 11 times, with Mavericks losing all 11 games. From the 2016 season till current, the Mavericks have won the past eight matchups with the largest margin of victory coming in 2019 – Mavs won 19-1.
Skyhawks Heading into Thursday
The Skyhawks (3-7 overall, 3-3 RMAC) are coming off two losses in last week's games – losing to UCCS 6-20 (Apr. 8) and Regis 3-17 (Apr. 10).
The Skyhawks are fourth in the RMAC standings with 85 goals and 21 assists on the season. The Skyhawks have a .755 shot on goal percentage and hit 20.0 shots per game.
Leading the Skyhawks with 20 goals is Haley Dostie with three Skyhawks following behind with 12 goals each – Liv Crawford, Ellie Martinez and Caprietta Abbadessa. Crawford leads the team in assists with five.
For the second leading scorers for the Skyhawks, Crawford has hit 22 shots on goal with 12 reaching behind the net, she has a .846 shot on goal percentage with Abbadessa following behind her with 25 shots on goal and .806 shot on goal percentage.
History Against Colorado College Tigers
Heading into Friday's game, the Mavericks are 1-3 overall in history matchups against the Colorado College Tigers. In most recent game in March 2021, Mavericks came out victorious defeating the Tigers 16-7.
All four game leaders are returners for the 2022 season and looking for a second win against the Tigers. Evans led the pack with four goals, Wentz and Davis each accounting for three goals, and Whittle following behind with two goals.
Tigers Heading into Friday
The Tigers are 7-8 overall, coming off five straight losses. The Tigers were defeated by Cabrini University 12-21 (Apr. 9) and Stockton University 9-16 (Apr. 10) over the weekend.
Tobin Lonergan leads the Tigers with 48 points in the season so far with 34 goals and 14 assists. Behind her is Devon Ortman, totaling with 17 goals and 18 assists.
In 15 games for the season currently, the Tigers have 198 goals and keeping their opponents to 180 goals.

Following Friday's game, the Mavericks will be home to take on Westminster College Wednesday, Apr. 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Hospital Unity Field.
The Mavericks will then hit the road for their last away regular season conference game in Pueblo, Colorado against the Thunderwolves Sunday, Apr. 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
