GOLDEN, Colo.— Mother nature has paused the Colorado Mesa University softball team's winning streak as she and prevented the Mavericks from playing the Colorado School of Mines on Saturday here at Joe Coors Jr. Field.
The Mavericks and Orediggers were scheduled to play another Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m. after the Mavericks swept a twin-bill on Friday. The two teams warmed up and made an attempt to get the games in, but the "feels like" temperature was in the high teens and below the RMAC's 25-degree requirement in order to start a game.
The Mavericks (12-4, 6-0 RMAC), who have won 11 straight games, will now return home to the CMU Softball Stadium for a 6-game home-stand beginning next Saturday when they take on Fort Lewis College in a doubleheader starting at noon.
Mines (1-13, 1-5 RMAC) will be at New Mexico Highlands next weekend.
