GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Heading on their first road trip of the season, the Colorado Mesa women's lacrosse team heads to the sunshine state, meeting up with a trio of ranked teams throughout the week.
The Mavericks (3-0) open their Florida trip against No. 6 Florida Southern on Sunday, March 20 in Lakeland Florida. Opening draw scheduled for 11:00 a.m. MST.
The following Tuesday (March 22) they head to Winter Park to face eighth-ranked Rollins College at Barker Family Stadium at 5:30 p.m. MST.
They close out the trip against No. 23 Saint Leo at University Turf Stadium, opening draw scheduled for 5 p.m. MST.
What's to Come
The Mavericks next five matchups all feature teams recognized and ranked in the recent ILWomen/IWLCA Division II poll. Following their Florida stretch against No. 6, No. 8 and No. 23, they will return home to host Lindenwood who holds at No. 4 in the poll.
They will immediately turn their attention back to conference action, heading over the Front Range to face long time foes, the Regis Rangers who hold at No. 11.
A Look Back
Before heading to the sun and the sand, the Mavs had to take care of business against the visiting McKendree Bearcats. Once again defending their home turf, they held their opponent to single-digits, the difference being double-figures for the third straight outing.
Kiley Davis brought her season goal total to nine, contributing five to lead the team.
Regan Wentz,
Ashton Whittle,
Elizabeth Renken and
Taylor Jakeman chipped in two each.
Melanie Evans, Peyton Walker and Jakeman dished out two assists each, aiding in the offensive efforts.
Shannon Murphy earned her third win in the goal, collecting four saves, conceding just one goal in 45 minutes of action.
Offensive Output
17 of the 27 Maverick players that have recorded time on the field have scored one or more of the team's 51 goals thus far. The team's success finding the back of the net also stems from the 32 assists they have collected.
Aside from Davis with nine goals, Wentz and Jakeman are on the brink of breaking double digits.
Ashton Whittle also within the conversation with five goals.

Nici Boutwell who is at the initial draw also snatching 11 to start off the possession.
Posing Problems
Conceding just nine goals in their three games thus far, opponents have gotten off no more than 27 shots and 18 shots on goal.
Collectively they have caused 45 turnovers, scooping up 62 grounds balls in the process.

Kelsey Viger closely behind with six.
Scouting the Mocs
The sixth-ranked Mocs of Florida Southern enter the weekend with a 5-1 record, their most recent win coming over Univ. of Alabama Huntsville, 18-8. With over 100 goals scored, they have netted double-figure goals in all but one game thus far, with two outing of 20 or more their other three wins on the brink of 20.
Abby McFerren is the team's leading scorer with 16 goals, 11 assists to accompany it for 27 points. Hailey Deleo adds 15 goals, 5 assists for a 20-point total. Four goalkeepers have recorded time defending the net, Brittany Iamele sports a 3-0 record with 19 saves and a 5.71-goals against average.
Scouting the Tars
Yet to be defeated, the Rollins College Tars will go into Tuesday's game, 8-0 on the season. Just as the Mavs have done in their three games, the Tars have held opponents to single digits, while surpassing double-digit tallies themselves.
Senior attack, Caroline Gastonguay leads the team's scoring efforts with 21 goals and 15 assists for 36 points. Fellow senior Liz Fahey is not far behind with 18 goals, chipping in six assists for 24 points. Rachel Schlesinger has been the go-to in goal, her 7-0 record stemming from 44 saves and a 6.55-goals against average.
Scouting the Lions
The Mavs will close out the week against the 23
rd ranked Saint Leo Lions on Thursday (March 24). At 3-6 overall, they suffered a 9-17 setback against No. 21 Saint Anselm last week.
At the forefront of the Lions attack is sophomore Fiona McLaughlin with 23 goals, she followed up by Lia Lamendola with 17. Freshman, Maria Palomba is the main person on draw controls with 90 on the young season.
In a rotation of three goalies, freshman Makayla Goetz has played in five game, getting the nod in four. With 36 saves, she is 2-2 between the posts.
