COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released the All-Conference teams on Wednesday (Mar. 2) afternoon. Colorado Mesa landed four players on the list including one of the top honors from the conference.
Senior
Daniella Turner was named the RMAC Player of the Year after averaging 19.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and shot over 47 percent from the field during her final season with the Mavericks. She was named the conference's offensive player of the week three times and earned RMAC All-Academic First Team status for the first time in her career.
The Boca Raton, Fla. native scored double digits in 27 of the 28 games played thus far including a season-high 28 against Black Hills State on December 10, Colorado School of Mines on February 19, and against UCCS in the opening round of the RMAC Tournament on Tuesday. She also eclipsed 1,000 points in her career against Regis on January 22.
The other half of the dynamic duo
Mariah Martin earned All-RMAC First Team honors. Martin, an All-RMAC Second Team selection last year at Westminster, was named a RMAC offensive player of the week four times after averaging 19.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and over six assists per game. She scored a career-high 33 points against Adams State on December 17 and was in double figures in 26 of the 28 games played this season.
Fellow senior
Kelsey Siemons was named to the Second Team after leading the team in blocked shots and three-point field goal percentage. The Tucson native is second in all-time blocks for the Mavericks and is sitting on 999 career points. She is averaging 9.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and nearly two blocks per game.
Senior
Sophie Anderson was named to the RMAC Honorable Mention list in her final season with the Mavericks. Anderson draws the toughest matchup on the defensive end night in and night out. She is averaging 7.2 points and 5.9 rebounds this season while helping the team limit opponents to just 35 percent shooting for the season.
Black Hills State's Haylee Weathersby was named the Freshman of the Year while Colorado School of Mines' Ashley Steffeck was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Former Colorado Mesa student athlete and current Colorado School of Mines head coach Brittany Simpson was named the RMAC Coach of the Year.
