However, the Mavericks dominated the rest of the game, scoring five runs to take a 5-4 lead in the top of the second.
Ally Distler, Christensen,
Ashley Bradford and
Myah Arrieta all had RBI hits in the inning as Christensen's hit her bomb to right to make it 4-3 before Bradford tripled to plate Wedman to tie the game. Arrieta then singled to score Bradford.
The Grizzlies would tie the game in the bottom of the second on an Emma Wilder home run but could not stop the Mavericks, who scored the final eight runs of the game over three innings to claim the mercy-rule victory in five.
The Mavs scored their two third-inning runs with two outs as Christensen singled before scoring on a Haller single and ensuing throwing error from center field. Mendoza then hit a triple to score Haller.
In the fourth,
Ellie Smith hit a RBI double while Distler added a sacrifice fly to give the Mavs a 9-5 lead.
The Mavs then scored four runs in the fifth as Wedman hit a 2-run single early on before another Smith double plated Bradford. Distler then hit a RBI single with two outs to complete the scoring.
Meanwhile, the Maverick pitchers held ASU to just five hits and a walk. Starter
Shea Mauser threw the first two innings.
Ellie Smith then gave up just one hit in the final three to pick up the win in relief.
Bradford went 3-for-4 from the lead-off spot while seven other Mavericks finished with two hits. All nine Mavs in the offensive lineup had at least one.

Game 2
After not playing in the first game,

In her next at bat, Jorissen drew a lead-off walk to begin the fourth and moved to third on a Distler double. Christensen then plated both with another double before Haller hit a third consecutive 2-bagger to give the Mavs a 4-0 lead.
They then scored three more runs in the sixth as a Haller triple to center started a 2-out rally that featured a 2-run Wedman single and a well-executed 1

rd double steal play that allowed Wedman to score while Bradford was caught in a run down.
Ellie Smith, who pitched the first five innings, then gave way to
Paige Adair, who retired each of the six Grizzlies she faced to close out the win. Adair had three strikeouts while Smith had struck out four Grizzlies while giving up just three hits and a walk. Smith earned her second win of the day and improved to 11-2 on the year.
Haller led the Maverick attack with a 3-for-4 effort. Christensen also had another 2-for-4 game as they and Wedman each recorded two RBIs in the win.
