GREENSBORO, N.C.— The 2022 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships continued on Friday morning here at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
The Colorado Mesa University Mavericks were represented in six of the eight swimming events, which had preliminary heats on Thursday morning, by 15 different swimmers. They advanced four to the championship finals and three others into the consolation finals in what was their best morning session of the meet thus far.
Here is a brief update on their performances. A full recap will be posted on Friday night following the finals session, which begins at 6 p.m. EST (4 p.m. Mountain).

Women's 500 Free
In what was the best overall event of the session for the Mavs,
Katerina Matoskova successfully qualified for the championship final after turning in a time of 4:55.15, seventh fastest amongst the 47 women in the field.
Amelia Kinnard also reached the consolation final after qualifying 15
th overall in 4:57.96.
Kelsea Wright also competed and finished 43
rd after touching the wall in 5:07.32.
Men's 500 Free
The Mavericks had four swimmers compete.
Kuba Kiszczak finished 20
th in 4:29.28 while
Gavin Anderson finished 29
th in 4:33.39.
Matheus Laperriere was just one spot further back, placing 30
th in 4:30.86. Jacob
Troescher was 34
th in 4:39.78 while
Dejan Urbanek was also entered, but took a declared false start.
Women's 100 Back
Lauren White smashed her own school-record for the second time in as many days, speeding to a time of 54.06 seconds to qualify fifth for the evening finals. She had posted a 100 back time of 54.64 in Thursday night's 400-yard medley relay. White had held the former school-record of 54.91 coming into the meet.
Davy Brown was also in the event, finishing her preliminary heat in 56.64 seconds to place 28
th.
Men's 100 Back
Ben Sampson safely reached the championship final, posting a time of 46.95 seconds to qualify seventh. He was the No. 1 seed coming into the meet at 46.36 and matched that time on Thursday night in the 400-yard medley relay. Sampson already has set four new school-records and earned four all-America honors this week.

Lane Austin finished 24
th in 49.00 seconds.
Women's 100 Breast
Lily Borgenheimer reached her third individual championship final in as many days, touching in 1:01.95. She has now qualified seventh for the each of her three individual events to date. She placed fifth in the 200 IM on Wednesday and eighth in the 400 IM on Thursday.
Men's 100 Breast
Mahmoud Elgayar got into the consolation final after placing 16
th with a season-best time of 54.12 seconds. He holds the school-record of 53.40 seconds and has already won 12 career all-America honors, two of which have come on relays this week.
Matt Barrett finished 28
th in 55.49.
Men's 200 Fly
Urbanek qualified ninth in 1:46.42, just missing out on the championship final. However, he will have the middle lane in the consolation final.
Men's 3-Meter Diving
Tanner Belliston,
Isaiah Cheeks and
Noah Luna will all represent the Mavericks in the afternoon preliminary round, which begins at 2 p.m. EST (Noon Mountain). They will each perform 11 dives. The top eight of the 18 entered divers will advance to the finals session, where they will repeat their six optional dives. The ninth through 16
th place finishers out of the preliminaries will score team points and earn Second Team CSCAA All-America honors but will not compete during the evening session.

Cheeks finished fourth in the 1-meter finals on Wednesday while Luna was sixth. Belliston had finished 12
th.
Cheeks was also fourth on the 3-meter during Tuesday's pre-championship qualifier. Belliston was seventh while Luna was eighth.
Evening Representation
The evening finals session will begin at 6 p.m. EST (4 p.m. Mountain). Here are the list of Mavericks who will compete.
The Maverick women will enter the evening in sixth place in the team standings with 97 points while the CMU men currently stand in seventh with 92 points.
Event #21- Women's 500 Free- Amelia Kinnard will first swim in the consolation final before
Katerina Matoskova will compete in the championship heat.
Event #23- Women's 100 Back- School-record holder
Lauren White will gun for her 13
th career all-America honor and a national title in the championship heat.
Event #24- Men's 100 Back- Ben Sampson, who still holds the fastest-ever time of an American Division II swimmer (46.36) will compete in the championship heat.
Event #25- Women's 100 Breast- Lily Borgenheimer will dive in for her third individual final of the meet and in search of her tenth career all-America honor in two years at CMU.
Event #26- Men's 100 Breast- Mahmoud Elgayar will swim in the next race, the consolation final.
Event #28- Men's 200 Fly- Freshman
Dejan Urbanek will compete in the consolation heat of the first individual final of his NCAA Championship career.
Event #29- Men's 3m Diving- If any of the Mavericks finish in the top eight of the afternoon preliminaries, they will contest six dives during the evening session, with their compulsory dive scores from the afternoon carrying forward.
Event #30- Women's 800 Free Relay- The Mavericks are seeded second out of 18 teams with a seed time of 7:20.44 and are poised to turn in the highest ever relay finish for a Maverick squad at the NCAA level.
Event #31- Men's 800 Free Relay- The Mavericks are seeded third out of 17 teams with a time of 6:29.87.
