The Mavericks reclaimed a winning record on their home pitch as they outscored DI opponent, Colorado State University 74-17. The team was able to weather the elements as both starters and finishers showed up to play today. As has become the custom, the team moved the ball well spreading the scoring opportunities around. Ellen Rickerd scored first and scored often as she led the Mavs with three trys on the day. Salina Edwards,
Sydney Hews and Barett Wagenseil each touched down for their first score of the season.
CSU was coming off of a busy fall season and traveled light due to injury. Because of that, the match was played as 10 aside for five 10 minute periods. This change to the fall 15s norm, played into the favor of the Mavs, who are coming off of a spring National Championship runner up season in 7s. The ladies showed their speed, endurance, and aggressiveness as they poached the ball at the ruck and found more green grass to run.
The bout with CSU ends the regular season on a high note. The Mavs head to Golden on Saturday Oct. 29
th to take on Colorado School of Mines at 2pm in a rematch for the division Championship. The team expects to see a strong crowd of support on the eastern slope.
