Road Trips Continue for Men's Lacrosse

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – This weekend's match ups take the No. 18 Colorado Mesa (4-1, 1-0 RMAC) men's lacrosse team to Adams State and CSU Pueblo, looking to build on their winning streak.
Since falling to Mount Olive in a thrilling overtime season opener, the Mavericks have gone on to win four straight, two of which were just decided by one point.

GROUNDING THE GRIFFINS
It had been nearly two years, 699 day to be exact, since rivals Colorado Mesa and Westminster last met, and even longer since the Mavericks stole a win from the Griffins in Salt Lake City.
The teams met three times in 2019, each time the Griffins coming out on top.
Last Friday, CMU left no doubt, taking home a 16-6 victory and their first win over WC since 2018. Carson Schwark made it three straight games scoring multiple goals, leading the team with a hat trick. Four other players chipped in two goals, as the CMU offense came out firing scoring 7 of their goals in the first frame.
As a team, Colorado Mesa took 49 shots, picked up 55 ground balls, won 19 face-offs and was 25-of-28 in clears.

SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
In the overall series, the Mavericks are 21-0 and posted their largest margin of victory in the shortened 2020 season, with a 21-3 triumph. In those 21 meetings, the Grizzlies have only gotten into double-digits once, scoring 13 time in 2015.
This season, the Grizzlies have yet to get into the win column, their most recent defeat coming at the hands of CSU Pueblo, 6-11.
Junior, Kyle Butler has increased his scoring efforts in every game, recording a hat trick and an assist against the Thunderwolves. His six goals, and three assists leads the team.
Brendan Williams has 49 saves, and sports a .521 save percentage defending the goal for ASU. He also leads the team, scooping up 13 grounds balls.

THUNDERWOLVES ON TAP
CSU Pueblo is sitting on a 2-2 record thus far, their two wins coming over Shorter University and Adams State.
Trenton Steele has 11 goals so far, scoring five against Colorado College for a season high. Freshman, Connor Owen follows up with eight goals, and leads the team in assists with five.
Garrett Breeling and Ethan Ferrie have traded off goalkeeping duties. Breeling has 32 saves on the season, and a .571 save percentage in 115 shots faced.
No fans will be allowed at Sunday's game at Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
