SPEARFISH, S.D.— Led by an individual win from
Natalie Mitchell, the Colorado Mesa University women's triathlon team took two of the top three and three of the top five spots to claim a 17-19 dual win over rival Black Hills State University in a Sunday dual.
The race, which was CMU's first and only triathlon competition of the pandemic-effected 2020-21 season, featured a 500-meter pool swim, a 25-kilometer bike trip on a 2-loop course and a 5K run with a finish on the track at the Yellow Jackets' Lyle Hare Stadium.
Mitchell completed the course in one hour, 14 minutes and 29 seconds to win by a minute over BHSU's Lilja McKendry.
CMU's
Hannah Croasdell finished third in 1:17.28 while
Megan Buchanan was fifth in 1:20.02.
Maggie Simmons completed CMU's team win when she took eight in 1:22.27.
The Mavericks' other three finishers were

th, 1:25.20) and
Savanna Liedy (12
th, 1:29.13).
