LOGAN, Utah— The Colorado Mesa University men's tennis team was downed 7-0 by NCAA Division I Utah State University on Saturday here at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club.
The NCAA Division II Mavericks fell to 5-2 on the season while the Aggies, members of the Mountain West Conference, improved to 4-2 with the win.
Despite the loss, the Mavericks' top players put up a good fight.
At No. 1 doubles,
Tyler Landen and
Christian Albrechtsen were beaten 6-4 by Felipe Acosta and Javier Ruiz.
Steven Howe lost, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to Sergiu Bucur in the closest singles affair.
The Mavericks are now off next weekend before playing their first three PacWest Conference matches on Mar. 5-6 in southern California.
