Grand Junction, CO - The train kept rolling as the lady Mavs returned home on Sunday Oct. 3rd to play DII competition, Colorado College (CC). CMU keep the momentum going as they scored their first two trys within 10 minutes of play. CC bounced back with a strong defensive stand before the Mavs were able to score again on the legs of Jayleen Sekona with 10 minutes left in the first half. CC scored right before half making the score 19-7 at halftime. Going along with what has become the new normal, the Mavs came out strong in the second half. Flyhalf Co-Captain Emily Canvasser returned the opening kickoff for a try and that opened the floodgates. Seven different Lady Mavs scored in this impressive showing of teamwork, speed, hard hits and heart. Co-Captains Liz Thoma and Emily Canvasser each touching down twice, in addition to Aspen Packard scoring two trys. The next time you can see the ladies live will be Saturday Oct. 9th at 11am. They will kick off a full day of rugby with a home matchup against DI opponent Utah State University.
