GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa Maverick women's lacrosse (1-2) team is set to face Rockhurst (4-3) Wednesday night at 7 pm on Walker Field in their second home game of the season. Live stream and live stats are available in the links provided above.
All About the Mavs
So far this season the Mavericks are led by Kenzie Blackwell who has recorded a team best 12 points this season that consist of a team high seven goals and five assists. Blackwell has started in every game this season and recorded a team high 12 shots on goal. The Granite Bay, Calif native has scored four times on free position goals this year. Her 1.33 free position goals per game ranks first in the conference and her 2.33 goals per game ranks fourth.
The Mavericks have recorded 10 free position goals this season and are putting 80.3 percent of their shots on goal to average 9.67 goals per game. The Mavs rank ninth nationally in free position percentage (55.6) and are second best among conference opponents.
On Monday Blackwell won RMAC Offensive Player of the Week for her career game against Northern Michigan that gave the Mavericks their first win of the season. Blackwell recorded a career high nine points during that game which consisted of four goals and five assists. Tying her career high in both categories.
Freshman Lauren Wick recorded a career high four goals and one assist against Northern Michigan. This season she's recorded five goals which is third best on the Maverick squad. Regan Wentz, also a freshman, recorded three goals in the Mavs most recent outing and picked up three ground balls which were both career highs for the Cincinnati, Ohio native.
Ashton Whittle has recorded the second most goals (6) and points (7) on the team this season. The Draper, Utah native has recorded a season high three goals this year on two different occasions. Against Northern Michigan she recorded a goal on each of her three shot attempts for a perfect shot on goal percentage.
Lula Mitchell has started in every game this season and has recorded a 45.9 saves percentages and 14.09 goals against average. Mitchell is averaging 11.33 saves per game which is second best in the RMAC and 13th nationally.
Scouting Rockhurst
The Hawks out of Kansas City, Mo. have outscored their opponents 107-71 this season to average 15.29 goals per game. 20 of the Hawks goals have been recorded on free position shots for a 45.4 free position shot percentage.
The Mavericks are 9-0 all time against the Hawks and recorded their largest margin of victory last season in a 18-2 win that took place at Walker Field.
Sophomore attacker, Logan Derosia leads the team with 24 goals and Helen Krause leads the team with 26 points which consists of 17 goals and nine assists. Freshman Danielle Mabry has recorded a team high 12 assists for the Hawks.
In the net senior Emily Duff has started all seven games and is averaging 11.84 goals against average and a 47.2 saves percentage.

The Mavericks will travel over spring break to Lewis University and UIndy. On Mar 17 the Mavs will play Lewis in Romeoville, Ill. followed by a game on Mar 19 against UIndy in Indianapolis, In.
Following those two games the Mavs will open up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games against Westminster in Salt Lake City, Utah at Dumke Field.
