GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – After a 2-0 start to the season the Colorado Mesa women's soccer team will look to continue their win streak this weekend against Nebraska Kearney and Newman on Friday and Sunday. These games originally scheduled to be played in Gunnison, Colo. were moved to Walker Field due to construction delay at Western's soccer field.
On Friday, the Mountaineers will play Newman at 4 pm. The Mavericks will take the field at 7 pm for a match against Nebraska Kearney. On Sunday, Western and Nebraska Kearney will play at 11:30 am and CMU and Newman will play at 2 pm.

Over two games the Mavericks have recorded five goals scored by five different players and allowed only two goals.
Zoe Peterson and Sydney Hathaway lead the Mavericks with three points each. The two forwards each have one goal and one assists on the short season. Lexi Newton with one goal to her name this season leads the team in shots at seven. Four of those shots were on target.
In the net, Kamrie Gunderson has started both games and recorded six saves. She's only allowed two goals and faced a total of 11 shots.
As a team the Mavericks are out shooting their opponents 39-11 and averaging 19.5 shots per game. 20 of those 39 shots were on target for a solid 51.3 shots on goal percentage.
About Newman
The Jets enter the weekend with a 1-0-1 record. The Jets tied with Southwest Baptist University before picking up their first win of the season against Drury, 2-0. Two different forwards recorded goals for the Jets. Kennedy Weaver and Kyla Kreemer each found the back of the net in their win. As a team, they have taken 31 shots and limited opponents to just 14. The sophomore goalkeeper has recorded four saves over two games and allowed zero goals.
About Nebraska Kearney
UNK comes to Grand Junction from Kearney, Nebraska with a 0-0-2 record. They tied with both MSU-Moorhead and Wayne State with no goals scored. UNK's goalkeeper has recorded 11 total saves between two games. Their offense has recorded 17 shots and 13 shots on goal between the two games with no goals scored.
A Look Ahead
The Mavericks will begin the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season against Colorado Christian and Colorado School of Mines. On Friday September 20 the Mavs will take on CCU in Lakewood, Colo. at Trailblazer Stadium. That Sunday the Mavericks will take on defeating RMAC Champions Colorado School of Mines at noon in Golden, Colo. That game will be played at Stermole Soccer Stadium on September 22.
