WICHITA FALLS, Texas— The Colorado Mesa University men's tennis team dropped a pair of 7-0 decision to nationally-ranked opponents on Friday. In the morning, they fell to No. 17 and weekend host Midwestern State University. In the afternoon, they were defeated by No. 24 Cameron.
The Mavericks are now 2-8 on the year heading into a Saturday morning match with Southern Arkansas, receiving votes in the Oracle/ITA NCAA Division II Rankings.
Against the Mustangs (4-0), ranked first in the South Central Region, freshman
Moises Cure took his No. 3 singles match to three sets falling 10-4 in an extended third-set tiebreaker.
Against Cameron (7-3), ranked third in the region, senior
William Agritelley fared the best before falling 6-4, 7-5 at No. 5 singles.
The Mavericks also received an exhibition doubles win from
Steven Howe and
Mitchell Steadman against the Aggies.
