Box Score PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa Mavericks have improved to 10-1 on the season and 4-1 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play after defeating CSU-Pueblo 15-9 Sunday afternoon at Gonzales Stadium. In their second meeting of the year with the Thunderwovles the Mavs had eight different goal scorers including Olivia Hayden and Kenzie Blackwell with four goals each.
Hayden totaled a team high five ground balls and won eight draw controls while teammate Erin Koehler tied her with five ground balls and caused four turnovers. Koehler and Saran Khalid lead the team with four caused turnovers each. The Mavericks' defense totaled 21 caused turnovers which was a season high.
The Thunderwolves were led by Emily Eller who recorded three goals and caused two turnovers.
This seven game win streak matches a program record that was set during the 2017 season.
The Mavericks got out to a 3-0 lead with goals from Ashton Whittle, Kenzie Blackwell and Hayden before the Thunderwovles recorded their first goal at 23:08 when the score read 3-1 in favor of the Mavericks. After CSU-Pueblo's first goal the Mavericks scored six straight goals and lead 9-1 with just under ten minutes to play in the first half. CSU Pueblo put up two more goals, but the Mavericks held a 10-3 lead at the halftime.
The Mavericks were outscored 6-5 int he second half and the Thunderwolves recorded the opening goal of the final thirty minutes.They got within six goals of the Mavericks until Hayden and Maeve Hungerford found the net on back-to-back goals to take a 12-4 lead with 24:50 remaining in the game.
The two teams exchanged goals until the Thunderwovles recorded three straight but at this time the Mavs still led 14-9. With under one minute two play Amanda Barton recorded the final goal of the game and secured the win 15-9.
Lula Mitchell totaled three saves and improved her goal keeping record to 8-0.

The Mavericks will look to spoil No. 9 Regis University's perfect season and give them their first loss of the year next weekend in Denver, Colo. The game will take place in at Regis Lacrosse Field on April 6th at 1 pm.
