GRAND JUNCTION, Colo – After six consecutive road games the Mavericks men's lacrosse team will host Rollins University in their home opener on Wednesday March 13 at 7 pm on Walker Field. The Mavericks are 3-2 on the season and coming off a win against No. 15 Lynn University.
Since the Mavericks last competed they swept the RMAC Player of the Week awards with Jack Griffins earning Offensive Player of the Week and goalie Christian Cherry earning Defensive Player of the Week back on March 4th. This was the second consecutive week the Mavs swept POTW awards.
A Look at the Mavs
Senior Jack Griffin leads the Mavericks with 11 goals and seven assists. He has totaled two hat tricks this season and his seven assists have all come in the previous three games. The Parker, Colorado native has scored threes time on a man up opportunities.
Brandon Wilson has totaled up the next best amount of points for this Maverick squad as he has recorded six goals and four assists. Wilson has recorded a goal in every game this season and started four times.
Three goalies have seen time this year for the Mavericks including Nick Wilson, Christian Cherry, and Remi Reeves. The RMAC Preseason Goal Keeper of the year has totaled 31 saves five games. More recently Cherry and Wilson have stepped in and recorded 18 and seven saves, respectively.
National Ranking
The Mavs jumped back into the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Poll after not being ranked since the Preseason Poll when they were picked No. 10. After receiving votes for the past four weeks the Mavericks reentered at No. 20 in the most recent poll which was released on March 3rd.
Lynn who the Mavs most recently defeated is receiving votes along with Tampa and Rollins who are both ahead on the Mavericks 2019 schedule.

Scouting Rollins
Traveling from Winter Park, Fla. The Tars are catching Colorado Mesa on the middle of their three-game road trip. They previously defeated Westminster 12-8 last Sunday and will travel to Grand Junction on Wednesday before facing CSU Pueblo on Sunday March 17. They are coming to Walker Field on a three game win streak and own a 4-1 overall record.
Ryan Dunn leads the team with 16 goals and is followed by teammate Greg Taicher who has register 13 goals on the season.
