POCATELLO, Idaho— The Colorado Mesa University men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Division I Idaho State University in their spring season-opener on Friday evening here in the Bengals' Reed Gymnasium.
Both teams are now 2-2 on the year as a whole.
The Mavericks dropped the doubles point although
Alain De La Bastide and
Lucas Martin were up 40-15 with the No. 2 doubles match tied at four games apiece when it was stopped after the Bengals claimed wins at No. 3 and 1 doubles.
In singles, the Mavericks failed to win a set. Freshman
Christian Albrechtsen was the closest before succumbing by a 6-3, 6-4 margin in No. 4 singles to Lukas Ridemar.
"They are a tough D-I team," Maverick Coach
Dan MacDonald said about the Bengals.
The Mavs will play another Division I foe on Saturday facing Weber State (0-7) in Ogden, Utah. First serve is slated for that match is slated for noon.
"These matches this weekend will be tough but will prepare us for the rest of the season. We have to be willing to grow from this to have a successful season," MacDonald stated.
